HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR FAMILY? I was born in Caracas, Venezuela and move to the US when I was 24 years old to continue my medical training in the field of ear, nose and throat. It is during this time were I met my wife, Laura, she was born in South Florida but was raised in Snellville, GA. We have two very different backgrounds. Me, I am the youngest of two sons of a highly educated parents, was raised in a big city. My wife, is the one of 4 siblings, her parents are salt of the earth people (postman and nurse), raised in a small town, have not lived away from her family ever. This has resulted in a very interesting mix as you can imagine.
We just welcomed our first child, Eliana Grace Henriquez, she is less than a month old and with her arrival I think the elements that each of us bring to our family and in the raising of our daughter will became even more obvious. I am fascinating to see what results this melting pot with result on.
DOES FAITH PLAY A ROLE IN YOUR FAMILY? IF YES OR NO, PLEASE EXPLAIN.
Faith yes, religion...not that much. Both me and my wife were raised catholics, but we have grown apart from organized religion, as I think a lot of people of our generation have. We are both believers on a high power, which we call God.
With the arrival of our daughter has came a new issue in our lives which is, how are we going to raised our daughter in regards to religion? The answer still is not clear to us. hopefully time will tell.
ARE THERE ANY CHALLENGES THAT YOUR FAMILY FACES THAT YOU FEEL ARE DISTINCT FROM OTHER FAMILIES?
I think the fact that both of us come from so very different backgrounds brings unique challenges that maybe some other families in the South have to face.
WHAT BRINGS GREAT JOY TO YOUR FAMILY? Wasting time in the couch, traveling, have a good arguments over current events.
WHAT IS A WORD, QUOTE, PASSAGE, VERSE OR SAYING THAT DESCRIBES YOUR RELATIONSHIP?
