HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR FAMILY?
After 4 years, a commitment ceremony, and a baby, we finally got legally married in November! I would describe my family as perfect... perfect for me at least.

DOES FAITH PLAY A ROLE IN YOUR FAMILY? IF YES OR NO, PLEASE EXPLAIN.
Yes, but our faith isn't religious based. Our faith is in each other. We believe that together, we can do anything and overcome everything.

ARE THERE ANY CHALLENGES THAT YOUR FAMILY FACES THAT YOU FEEL ARE DISTINCT FROM OTHER FAMILIES?
Living in the South, homophobia almost kept us from having a baby. We talked long and hard and decided that we weren't going to let ignorance chose our destiny. I am so thankful that we decided to expand our family! The biggest thing we face right now is is ignorance. We are constanly asked questions that are completely inappropriate and ridiculous: "Who is the REAL Mom?", "A child needs a mother AND a father", "Out of the two of you, who is more the 'Dad'?". I could go on, but the list is exhausting. We have gotten a thicker skin about it, but it still stings every time we hear something like this. We also face legal issues. We have been advised by lawyers to move to different parts of the state to get a second parent adoption. Though there is no law (that I know of) keeping a same sex couple from going thru a legal second parent adoption, we have been told that a judge can use "his/her discretion"... basically telling us that a homophobic, close minded person can keep us from being a legal family.

WHAT BRINGS GREAT JOY TO YOUR FAMILY?
We enjoy everything together! Our daughter (who will be 18 months old this month) has taught us to see the world in a whole new light. We love hiking, travelling, and snuggling! There is not anything we don't enjoy together!

WHAT IS A WORD, QUOTE, PASSAGE, VERSE OR SAYING THAT DESCRIBES YOUR RELATIONSHIP?
Karma. We strongly believe in Karma, and we believe Karma brought us together!
